SEDS is an independent, student-based organization which promotes the exploration and development of space. SEDS pursues this mission by educating people about the benefits of space, by supporting a network of interested students, by providing an opportunity for members to develop their leadership skills, and inspiring people through their involvement in space-related projects. SEDS believes in a space-faring civilization and that focusing the enthusiasm of young people is the key to humankinds future in space.
SEDS UAE CHAPTER is based at Our Own English High School, Abu Dhabi (OOEHS AUH). This chapter is open only to the students of this school. The criteria based on which the members are selected are as follows:
1) Determination, Commitment and Enthusiasm 2) Integrity, Teamwork and Co-operation 3) Performance on the SEDS Elimination Test.
SEDS UAE was found out by Nishith Khandwala (of class 10 D) in November 2010. SEDS UAE is the first astronomy group for high school students in the Middle-East.
The club meetings are usually held on Wednesdays, from 2:15 p.m to 4:15 p.m.
